Framework
The aim of the Programme Recording Memory – Documentary Production by Students is to engage the educational community into an experiential play of appropriating collective and individual memory through the audiovisual recording of personal experiences from the students’ intimate and broader environment in connection with the Programme’s thematics.
Each school unit participating in the implementation of the Programme is invited to incorporate digital technologies in the learning process by developing relevant actions towards the creation of a short documentary by students, and to also evaluate the materialisation of these actions.
The Programme emphasises the need to preserve the memory of collective identity but also to develop the competence of the new generation to draw knowledge and values from the past to create the future. At the same time, the Programme brings out the significance of multidimensional history by acknowledging the varied experiences of the individuals that make up a family, a society, a people; and also by implicitly engaging with the experiences of the previous generations in order to empower family relationships and foster historical and social cohesion.
During the current school year, participants in the Programme can choose one of the following themes: Αειφόρος Ανάπτυξη – Περιβάλλον, Απελευθερωτικοί Αγώνες, Κατεχόμενα, Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά αλλά και οποιαδήποτε άλλη θεματική πιθανόν να ενδιαφέρει και να αποτελέσει πηγή έμπνευσης για τους μαθητές και τις μαθήτριες. Οι μαθητές και οι μαθήτριες καλούνται να καταγράψουν, μέσα από έρευνα και συνεντεύξεις, τα βιώματα των προηγούμενων γενεών σε σχέση με τις πιο πάνω θεματικές και στη συνέχεια να δημιουργήσουν ένα σύντομο ντοκιμαντέρ διάρκειας μέχρι 15 λεπτά.
The teachers participating in the Programme have access to auxiliary material and have the opportunity to train in the drafting of the learning design as well as in documentary production (research, scriptwriting, production management, filming, editing) with the support of the Educational Technology Department. Students and teachers participating in the Programme develop, among other things, the competence to collaborate, communicate, understand, analyse and combine content, to be creative, to apply critical thinking, to be empathetic, to improve their skills in digital and audiovisual literacy, in written and oral expression, scriptwriting, filming, sound recording, editing etc.
The schools, teachers and students who participate in the Programme and have successfully completed their obligations receive a certificate.
School obligations
The main obligations of schools and teachers implementing the Programme are as follows:
1) Συμμετοχή του/των συντονιστή/συντονιστών του Προγράμματος στην εναρκτήρια ενημερωτική συνάντηση για το Πρόγραμμα
2) Συμμετοχή του/των συντονιστή/συντονιστών του Προγράμματος σε πέντε (5) επιμορφωτικές συναντήσεις κατά τη διάρκεια της σχολικής χρονιάς 2025-2026, με θέμα τη διαδικασία παραγωγής, τη συγγραφή σεναρίου, την κινηματογράφηση και το μοντάζ
3) Πραγματοποίηση τουλάχιστον μίας συνάντησης, είτε στο σχολείο, είτε διαδικτυακά, με τον/την υποστηρικτή/τρια Λειτουργό του ΠΙ
4. Drafting and implementing a learning design
5) Συγγραφή σεναρίου για ντοκιμαντέρ
6) Παραγωγή ντοκιμαντέρ διάρκειας μέχρι 15 λεπτά
7) Ανάρτηση του ντοκιμαντέρ στην ιστοσελίδα του σχολείου και διάχυση της εμπειρίας μαθητών, μαθητριών και εκπαιδευτικών από τη συμμετοχή τους στο Πρόγραμμα, τουλάχιστον εντός της σχολικής μονάδας
Πριν την έναρξη των εργασιών, οι συντονιστές και συντονίστριες του προγράμματος θα πρέπει να έχουν λάβει από τους γονείς/κηδεμόνες των μαθητών και μαθητριών Υπεύθυνες Δηλώσεις για την ενεργή εμπλοκή των παιδιών τους στη διαδικασία της συλλογικής δημιουργίας σε σχολικό πλαίσιο για το εν λόγω Πρόγραμμα και στις οποίες να αναγράφεται ότι δέχονται να δημοσιευτεί το συλλογικό έργο της μαθητικής ομάδας.
8) Αξιολόγηση του Προγράμματος από τους συμμετέχοντες και τις συμμετέχουσες εκπαιδευτικούς, μαθητές και μαθήτριες μέσω διαδικτυακού ερωτηματολογίου
9. Representation of the school at the Media Literacy One-Day-Event and at the Closing Event of the Department of Educational Technology where the school will be invited to present its actions.
10) Το σχολείο και οι εκπαιδευτικοί που συμμετέχουν στο Πρόγραμμα είναι υποχρεωμένοι σε οποιαδήποτε δημόσια, έντυπη ή διαδικτυακή αναφορά, ανάρτηση, δελτίο τύπου, δημοσιογραφική εκπομπή κ.ά. σχετική με το Πρόγραμμα, να αναφέρουν τον πλήρη τίτλο του Προγράμματος και ότι υλοποιείται στη βάση προγράμματος του Παιδαγωγικού Ινστιτούτου Κύπρου, του Υπουργείου Παιδείας, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας.
11. Submission to the Pedagogical Institute of the relevant form on the utilization of the funding granted for the Program, together with certified copies of receipts
Participation
Up to ten (10) schools will be selected to participate in the Programme in the current school year. The Headmasters and Headmistresses of school units interested in participating in the Programme must express their interest online through the PI’s online registration setting at http://www.pi-eggrafes.ac.cyunder the category Programme – Recording Memoryuntil Friday, 26/09/2025.
Schools participating in the Programme will receive an amount of €250 to cover related expenses. The amount will be forwarded to the schools through the competent School Boards after they will have created the learning design.
Please note that participation in the Programme can be conducive to materialising the Professional Learning Action Plan for teachers within your school unit.
