Digital Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
As part of its Educational Technology initiatives, the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute is organizing One Day Event entitled Educating for Digital Citizenship in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,Tuesday, April 30, 2025from 08:30 till 14:00at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, Latsia.Nicosia
Two keynote presentations will be featured at the conference. Mr. Christos Papadopoulos, Head of the ICT Unit at the Ministry of Education, will speak on “Education for Digital Citizenship.” Ms. Lucy Avraamidou, Director of the Center for Learning and Teaching at Gro University in the Netherlands, will present “Learning to Live with the World: The Role of Education.” The second part of the conference will showcase best practices implemented by schools, educators, and students within the framework of the Educational Technology Department’s programs and initiatives.


Cinema Talks: Film Education and Pedagogical Practice
In the context of Global Media and Information Literacy Week, the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, in collaboration with the Larnaca-Famagusta Film Club, is hosting a seminar entitled: Film Education and Pedagogical Practiceon Tuesday, December 3th, 2024from 08:30 till 13:30at the Multi-functional Center for Social Activities and Welfare of Larnaka MunicipalityThe seminar aims to engage the educational community with effective practices for integrating film education into the teaching and learning process.

Το Παιδαγωγικό Ινστιτούτου Κύπρου, στο πλαίσιο των δράσεων του Τομέα Εκπαιδευτικής Τεχνολογίας, διοργάνωσε Ημερίδα με τίτλο «Η Ψηφιακή Εκπαίδευση στην Εποχή της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης», την Παρασκευή, 14 Ιουνίου 2024, από τις 08:30 μέχρι τις 14:00, , στους χώρους του Παιδαγωγικού Ινστιτούτου Κύπρου στα Λατσιά, Λευκωσία.
Στην Ημερίδα παρουσιάστηκαν δύο κεντρικές εισηγήσεις. Η κ. Χαρούλα Αγγελή, Καθηγήτρια στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου, μίλησε για την αξιοποίηση της τεχνητής νοημοσύνης για την ενίσχυση της διδασκαλίας και της μάθησης. Ο κ. Σάββας Χατζηχριστοφής, Καθηγητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Νεάπολις, επικεντρώθηκε στη δύναμη της τεχνητής νοημοσύνης στη διδασκαλία και στη μάθηση.
Στο δεύτερο μέρος της Ημερίδας παρουσιάστηκαν καλές πρακτικές που υλοποιούνται από σχολεία, από εκπαιδευτικούς, μαθητές και μαθήτριες στο πλαίσιο των προγραμμάτων και δράσεων του Τομέα Εκπαιδευτικής Τεχνολογίας.


Advancing Media Literacy in Education: Contemporary Approaches in Pedagogy
The online One-Day-Event endeavours to bring the educational community up to date with developments and practices in connection with Media Literacy, more particularly the incorporation of the new media in teaching and learning. To this purpose, distinguished speakers have been invited from abroad to showcase the example of Finland as a country that has made significant progress on this topicη (ranked first among 41 European countries in Media Literacy Index 2022); address the role of Media Literacy in the contemporary era through the years-long action of the US-based Center for Media Literacy; and map out the European landscape regarding education and future steps through the expertise of the Belgium-based Media & Learning Association.
Digital Education: Developments and Pedagogical Practices
The Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, in the framework of the actions ran by the Educational Technology Department, hosted a One-Day-Event titled “Digital Education: Developments and Pedagogical Practices” on Thursday, 8 June 2023, from 08:00 until 15:00 at Nicosia’s Filoxenia Conference Centre. The aim of the event was to inform the educational community about developments and practices in connection with digital education and the incorporation of new technologies in teaching and learning. To this purpose, the event addressed the example of Estonia as an educational system that has been making significant progress in the area of digital education; developments and challenges of artificial intelligence in education; good practices implemented by schools, teachers and students in the context of the Pedagogical Institute’s Programmes and Actions, as well as workshops.


Digital Education: Facts and Challenges
The Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, in the framework of the actions ran by the Department of Educational Technology, hosted a One-Day-Event titled “Digital Education – Facts and Challenges”. The event took place online on Tuesday, 31 May 2022 from 16:00 until 19:00 and was addressed to teachers of all grades. The aim of the event was to present topics around the development of digital competence in education, emerging technologies, media literacy and the safe, creative and responsible use of the Internet through the presentations of speakers from Cyprus and abroad.
The Cultivation of Digital Citizenship through Media Literacy
The Two-Day-Event aimed to foster the discussion about the significance of the development of Media Literacy among teachers and students alike, by approaching the topic through the lens of digital citizenship. It was addressed to teachers of all grades, tertiary education students, researchers and everyone interested in understanding issues in connection with the influence of contemporary technological developments in education and the making of digitally literate citizens.

The aim of the One-Day-Event was to present themes around the development of digital competence in education, emerging technologies, media literacy, and safe, creative and responsible utilisation of the Internet through the presentations of speakers from Cyprus and abroad.
