    Framework

The Online Student Radio is a contemporary, flexible and attractive tool for schools as it promotes innovative approaches to learning and enables the development of multiple skills. At the same time, it creates a context of collaboration and mutual communication between the educational and σbroader community as it provides opportunities for interaction. Through the radio, students and teachers can experience school as a participatory space of self-expression and creativity.

Each school unit participating in the Programme Student Web Radio develops a series of actions geared towards the creation of a radio show or a series of radio shows by students, and subsequently evaluates the materialisation of these actions.

Teachers participating in the Programme have the opportunity to train in the creation of learning design as well as in the production of a radio show (research, scriptwriting, production management, filming, editing, dissemination) with the support of officers at the Department of Educational Technology. Participating students and teachers will develop, among other things, the competence to collaborate, communicate, understand, analyse and compile content, to be creative, to apply critical thinking, to be empathetic, to improve their skills in digital and audiovisual literacy, in written and oral expression, scriptwriting, sound recording, sound editing etc.

School radio shows will be broadcasted online on the European School Radio, http://europeanschoolradio.euestablished in the framework of European Projects NEStOR – Networked European and School Radio – The European School Radio and Podcasting Community for Active Citizenship Educationin which the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute has been involved as a partner. The platform enables schools in Cyprus, Greece and Europe to broadcast their radio creations online. For more about the projects, please visit www.pi.ac.cy/nestor and https://socialradio.europeanschoolradio.eu.
